We are not comparing brands, we are comparing molecules. Each "smells like" comparison below points to the fragrance's own Fragrantica page, and we flag when it is one reviewer's opinion or a weaker match. If a fragrance had no documented comparison to a designer or niche original, it did not make this list.

Every few months a TikTok trend resurfaces the same claim: you can smell like a $400 bottle for $30. Most of the time nobody checks whether that is actually true. We did. We went through Half or Nothing's women's, men's, and unisex fragrance inventory and checked every candidate against Fragrantica, which lists more than 2.6 million member reviews, looking for documented comparisons. Seven survived.

A quick note on what "dupe" means here, because the word gets used loosely. None of the seven fragrances below are counterfeits, knockoffs, or fakes of the original bottle. Each one is a completely separate, legally sold perfume with its own name and its own brand, built by a perfumer who reached for a similar palette of raw materials, usually the same handful of synthetic aromachemicals that show up across the whole industry, and landed on a comparable scent. That overlap is what fragrance communities like Fragrantica are actually documenting when a review says one perfume "smells like" another: a real, testable similarity in notes and structure, not a legal claim and not an insult to the original.

How we sourced these: Fragrantica shows a "People who like this also like" list on each fragrance's page. It is the site's own co-interest data, not a lab test and not proof that two scents match, but anyone can check it in one click, and each item below links to its page. We checked the pages ourselves on September 18 to 19, 2026.

Ranked by how strong and how sourced the comparison is, not by price.

1. Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man

Smells like: Creed Aventus

Top: lemon, pineapple, bergamot, black currant, apple. Middle: birch, jasmine, rose. Base: musk, ambergris, patchouli, vanilla. A fruity-sharp opening that settles into the same smoky-birch drydown Aventus is known for.

On the fragrance's Fragrantica page, Creed Aventus is the first fragrance in its "People who like this also like" list. There is also a forum thread on the comparison, Creed Aventus vs Armaf Club De Nuit Intense Man, and opinions on how close it gets are mixed. 2. Lattafa Yara Moi

Smells like: YSL Libre

YSL Libre appears in the "People who like this also like" list on Fragrantica's Yara Moi page, though it is one of 20 entries and not the first. The page lists jasmine and peach up top, caramel and amber in the middle, and patchouli and sandalwood at the base, a warm, sweet take on a floral-amber shape like Libre's. Reviews are mixed: some describe a classy, sweet jasmine fragrance, while others loved the opening but disliked the warm, spicy drydown. Lattafa's own note list is different from Fragrantica's, so treat the Libre link as a similar mood, not a match.

3. Rasasi Hawas Black

Smells like: Paco Rabanne Invictus Aqua (the weakest-sourced comparison on this list, see below)

Top: bergamot, pineapple, grapefruit. Middle: patchouli, cedarwood, jasmine. Base: oakmoss and amber. Sharper and mossier than the original Hawas for Him, but built on the same bright aquatic-fruity DNA the whole line is known for.

Here is the caveat. Fragrantica's Hawas Black page, a 2024 release, does not list Invictus Aqua in its "People who like this also like" list. It lists Terre d'Hermès, Afnan Supremacy, Club De Nuit Intense Man, and Dior Sauvage Elixir, among others. The Invictus Aqua comparison comes from the original Hawas for Him. A 2017 Fragrantica thread, Paco Rabanne Invictus Aqua or Rasasi Hawas, asked which to buy, and members mostly called them close enough that owning both is redundant. One member who owns both writes: "Similar but not clone." Treat Hawas Black as a flanker in the same family, not a proven match.

Tom Ford Tobacco Vanille is the third fragrance in the "People who like this also like" list on Fragrantica's Amber Oud Tobacco Edition page. The page lists tobacco leaf, cinnamon, black pepper, and ginger up top, vanilla, clove, star anise, tonka bean, cacao, and incense in the middle, and tobacco, dried fruits, and woody notes at the base.

Al Haramain sells many Amber Oud editions, so this applies to the Tobacco Edition specifically, not the whole line. This listing is the 6.76 oz (200 ml) bottle.

5. Lattafa Asad

Smells like: Dior Sauvage Elixir

Top: black pepper, tobacco, pineapple. Middle: patchouli, coffee, iris. Base: vanilla, amber, dry wood, benzoin, labdanum. An amber-spicy profile with real weight to it, closer to Sauvage's darker Elixir concentration than to the original eau de toilette.

Both Dior Sauvage Elixir and the original Dior Sauvage appear in the "People who like this also like" list on Fragrantica's Asad page. Elixir is the denser, spicier concentration Dior added to the line in 2021, so if you are chasing the classic blue-bottle citrus-ambroxan smell of the original 2015 Sauvage, this is not that.

6. Orientica Royal Bleu

Smells like: Parfums de Marly Layton

Fragrantica's Royal Bleu page lists bergamot, lavender, mandarin, pepper, and green apple up top, violet, jasmine, geranium, and cardamom in the middle, and patchouli, sandalwood, guaiac wood, vanilla, and musk at the base. FragranceNet's listing gives the same notes, without the musk. Parfums de Marly Layton appears in the "People who like this also like" list on the page, and one reviewer writes: "It is a Layton inspired-by fragrance and it's almost a 1to1 with Armaf Rugir." Outside reviewers also call it a close Layton alternative, but usually without the minty opening.

This is the priciest item on the list, and Fragrantica files it under the label's Orientica Premium line rather than a budget one.

7. Armaf Tres Nuit

Smells like: Creed Green Irish Tweed

Creed Green Irish Tweed is the third fragrance in the "People who like this also like" list on Fragrantica's Tres Nuit page, and Aventus appears there too. The page lists iris, lemon, and verbena up top, lavender, violet, and spicy notes in the middle, and ambergris and sandalwood at the base, the green, soapy, gentlemanly shape Green Irish Tweed is known for. Green Irish Tweed dates to 1985 and is one of the most-requested "cheaper version of this" fragrances. The discussion lives on Basenotes as well as Fragrantica, and opinions vary: some call it a very close clone, while others find it a little denser, sweeter, and more powdery.

Scent Stacking: Layering Ideas

Layering means wearing two fragrances together so they blend into a third, personal scent. A $25-30 bottle is a low-stakes way to experiment, since a bad combination costs a spray, not a bottle. Fragrantica has a forum thread for it, Club de Nuit CHALLENGE: Layer it with ____?, where members trade combinations for Club De Nuit Intense Man.

Lattafa's Khamrah line comes up in layering talk, and Khamrah Qahwa is a Fragrantica "also like" pick on several pages above, though it is not one of the seven. One reviewer on the original Khamrah page, a different fragrance from Qahwa, describes it as "spicy, warm apple pie" and says they layer it with a pine fragrance.

These combinations are our own ideas, not sourced from Fragrantica, so adjust them on your own skin:

• The smoky-to-soft flip: a light spray of a clean musk or powdery floral over Amber Oud Tobacco Edition, to soften its tobacco weight for daytime wear.
• The citrus rebuild: if Club De Nuit Intense Man's pineapple-lemon opening reads too sharp on your skin, try a linear citrus spray over it.
• The light-over-heavy pair: Amber Oud Tobacco Edition underneath, then a lighter floral like Yara Moi on top.

Layering Basics

Layering is not just spraying two things and hoping. These are widely repeated tips, not something we tested, so treat them as starting points:

• Heaviest first. Perfume notes evaporate at different rates by molecular weight. Apply the denser, darker, woodier fragrance first (Amber Oud Tobacco Edition here), let it settle for a minute, then mist the lighter, citrus or floral one on top (Yara Moi is a good candidate). Reversed, the heavy notes bury the light one entirely.
• Prime the skin. Alcohol-based sprays evaporate fastest on dry skin, which is why perfume seems to fade quickly on some people and not others. An unscented lotion or a plain oil like jojoba on pulse points before spraying gives the fragrance something to hold onto, which is the same principle behind why EDP and extrait concentrations (oil-heavier formulas) last longer than EDT.
